We have this running joke about Hutch and its users in our college. Often we see users yelling into their handsets, standing on the granite slab trying to gain some altitude in the hope of receiving signals near some window or an exhaust ventilator in the canteen or someone rushing out of the canteen clutching their phone in their hand before the connection completely trails off…and we think aloud teasingly….hutch hoga!
What otherwise is one of the best ever ad campaigns in India (Where ever you go our network follows) turns out to be damp squib in our college premises and from what I hear a lot of other places in our city. In the campaign, the chasing pug (dog) represents the loyal, omnipresent- network, and the child model-the privileged user. But in reality the two seem to have exchanged roles…with a lot of hutch users perched on top of slabs or stationed at the railings or windows trying to catch some network, its the users who seem to be chasing the evasive service.
Hutch now has one more irate customer..a guy named Md Abdul Sahed a.k.a Bilal the mastermind behind the friday blasts in HYD. Blasts were reportedly triggered by mobile phone using Hutch service. According to today’s TOI headlines the blast was supposed to occur 20 minutes earlier than it actually did. Poor Bilal kept on trying the number from 1:00pm to 1:22pm when finally he got through and triggered the blast . He was supposed to trigger 2 more bombs but the poor Hutch network didnt let him!! Thus, inadvertantly saving scores of lives.
I want to know if Hutch will try to leverage on this dubious distinction in their future marketing efforts!!
As far as I am concerned, I am glad Bilal used hutch, I feel like giving one Hutch SIM complimentary to all terrorists as a token of gratitude for using Hutch in HYD or anywhere else.
