The other day was riding to Abids for some work when I was passing by Sudhadarshani and couldnt stop myself from stopping and have a Masala Dosa. As I finished and was taking my bike outta the parking my eye caught this banner right across the street. This was a advertisement for a web designing institute which was apparently operating out of the building from which this banner was hanging..so if some one is looking for a course in web designing pls consider this institute which offers:
1.Real time faculties (just trying to remember if any unreal time faculty ever taught me..)
2.Equiped Labs (are there any other kind?)
3.High Confeguration Systems. (dude..first configure the word ‘configure’ correctly and then we’ll see..I hope atleast the systems they are talking about are configured and not confegured)
If the banner was made by the institute itself ..then I dont suggest you enroll in such institute..
If the banner was made by some one else…then..I even strongly recommend not to join.

A columnist in Cricinfo mentioned in one of his articles how in some households of Bengal..dark or wheatish skin color is described as ‘moila’ (translates to ‘dirty’) without them being accused of being racists. Thats because they do it with no racial connotations what so ever. The context was how different words mean different things in various cultures/people. Apparently, its ok or atleast less offensive to direct a ’maa ki’ expletive than call some one a ‘monkey’ in some places.
You describe someone’s skin as ‘Moila’ or its equivalent in any other country …and you are in big trouble.
Nevertheless, I feel the word ‘moila’ at the very outset is outright racial…we shouldn’t be using it even to harmlessly describe anyones skin tone given its meaning…its sad that the word has got ingrained in Bengali vocab and some other Hindi dialects.
Im sure its the Brits who used to refer to us as that (with definite intentions of meaning it)and we got used to it and continued using it even in our present day parlance without actually thinking too much about its meaning. Sad!
Why should skin color be referred as ‘dirty’….however innocuous the context is?
‘dirty’ is not a skin color..Perhaps one of banes in disguise the english left us with…
Racism is ‘dirty’ not skin…period.

India flexing financial muscle?…do we even have that?..would have been more believable if it was ‘POLITICAL Muscle’…thats something we have in abundance.
Probably, the writer meant BCCI (it being the richest cricket board)…then dude…when you mean BCCI write BCCI…and not India.
